Their primary responsibility is to address matters related to the Zoning Ordinance within Putnam County&#8217;s designated Unincorporated Areas in West Virginia. To qualify, all board members must have a minimum residency of three years within the zoned county areas, and they cannot hold positions within the Planning Commission or any elected or appointed office within the county. Each board member serves a three-year term, and alternative members step in when regular members are unavailable. You can find the current roster of board members on page 2 of this document. The BZA&#8217;s duties encompass evaluating requests for zoning variances, handling administrative appeals, and processing special permit applications. Their primary responsibility is to address matters related to the Zoning Ordinance within Putnam County&#8217;s designated Unincorporated Areas in West Virginia. To qualify, all board members must have a minimum residency of three years within the zoned county areas, and they cannot hold positions within the Planning Commission or any elected or appointed office within the county.
