The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office would like to send condolences to the members of the Kentucky State Police as they navigate through this difficult time.Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kentucky State Police and the family, friends, and fellow Troopers of Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369, following his tragic line-of-duty death earlier today.
The loss of an officer is felt throughout the entire law enforcement community. We stand alongside our brothers and sisters of the Kentucky State Police as they mourn this tremendous loss.
May Trooper Phillips’ service, sacrifice, and dedication to the Commonwealth of Kentucky never be forgotten.

Hello Putnam Countians! Just to let you know your sheriff’s office had a really good turn out for the Probationary Deputy Sheriff test. Very excited to get some more people hired and on patrol. To the applicants, thank you for spending your Saturday morning with us and choosing our department to start your law enforcement career. Thank you to all the deputies who volunteered to help with testing responsibilities especially Lt. Derek Miller for, once again, running a smooth and safe testing environment. Finally, appreciation to our civil service commissioners for approving our test and Putnam County EMS for helping with anyone needing any type of medical assistance ( we had zero vomiters this time!) …… Oh and WVU 41 OSU 17

Any applicant taking our hiring exam tomorrow traveling Rt. 62 to get to the testing site in Winfield, please use an alternative route. The town of Poca will be having their fall festival🍁🍂🎃. Rt. 62 will be shut down faster than your dad yelling at you to shut the front door because you’re letting all the air conditioning out of the house and impassable for most of the morning.
