⏰ An important Reminder from Putnam Fire Services Director Dave Turley:
Have you checked your smoke detectors yet?
Take a minute today to:
✅ Test your alarms
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Check the date - detectors older than 10 years should be replaced
It’s a small task that can make a life-saving difference.
If you can, take a moment to check on an elderly neighbor or family member who may need help.
✔️ If you’ve already checked yours, comment “done” below.
✔️ If you helped someone else, tell us about it.

Picture this…
It’s 3:00 a.m. You’re sound asleep.
Suddenly…
BEEP.
The loudest, most high-pitched sound you’ve ever heard in your life.
You sit up in bed wondering:
Is it a bird?
Is it the neighbor doing something questionable again?
Nope.
It’s your smoke detector.
And it’s reminding you that the battery probably should’ve been changed… a while ago.
Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.
Here’s an easy way to stay ahead of it (and keep your home protected):
✅ Press the test button once a month
✅ Check to make sure your smoke detector is not more than 10 years old. Replace if so.
✅ Change batteries when the clocks change
Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 8, the perfect reminder.
A few seconds of maintenance can make a big difference.
